Cooper River Regatta
This weekend I attended the Knecht Cup, a rowing competition that included over 60 schools from across the country. This year the regatta was held on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
Young men and women teams competed for the cup in pairs as well as 4’s and 8’s. Many of these young athletes have been training twice a day for months in hopes of bringing home the cup for their school.
Parents lined the banks of the river and cheered loudly for their offspring to beat the other schools to the finish line. They also kept a close eye on the standings via their smart phones and the leader board that was posted by the sponsors.
The determination on the rowers faces was just one indication of the competitiveness of this regatta.
The finals will be held on Sunday, but all schools performed extreamly well today and should be proud of their efforts.
